Mr.
Manuel Vargas
|
All
the cigars presented here are produced
at the Vargas workshop.
The workshop was
founded in 1925 by Manuel Vargas,
a fisherman and docker. In his freetime
he produced cigars in a small room and
these cigars became more and more famous.
He later stopped
fishing and began to work seriously as
a cigar-roller.

Enrique
Vargas de Paz

 |
In those days,
the cigars did not have a name and they
were only known as "LOS PUROS DE MANUEL
PLANETA" (Cigars from Manuel Planeta).
It was also at
this moment, when Manuel Vargas started
to teach his ten year old son Enrique
Vargas de Paz the cigar-rolling trade.
After some years, Enrique Vargas de Paz
carried on with his father's traditions
and registered TABACOS VARGAS as
a trademark.
In spite of being
76 years old, Enrique Vargas de Paz
is still the leading person in the workshop.
Every day he intends to teach his experiences
and knowledge about cigar-making to carry
on with the tradition of cigars Vargas
and to hold the international acknowledgement
for craft quality.
Enrique Vargas
de Paz is considered one of the three
best tobacco-mixers in the world.
The famous american
magazine "Tobacconist" also recognized
it. For the first time in his history,
it published a photo of Enrique Vargas
on the cover-page and render him homage.
It was the first time that a cigar-roller
was given such an honor.
Nowadays, the workshop
has grown from the small room to a big
and modern instalation with nearly 70
specialist workers.
